Kaz Windness is an award-winning, genre-crossing author and illustrator of a dozen books, including "Swim, Jim!" (Simon & Schuster, June 2022), “Worm and Caterpillar are Friends” (Simon Spotlight, January 2023), and “Bitsy Bat, School Star” (Simon & Schuster, Summer 2023). Proudly neurodiverse, Kaz specializes in funny and heartfelt character-driven books that celebrate inclusivity, grit, and kindness.
School Visit Topics & Activities
2022-23 presentations feature SWIM, JIM! I will read my new picture book "SWIM, JIM!" and talk about the creative process of writing and illustrating a picture book, and engage kids in thinking of their own characters and stories. I will then draw a picture of Jim from simple shapes so students can draw and follow along. We will also learn about facing fears, habitats, crocodiles, and swimming.
