Follow the adventures of Gift and Box as they travel from Grandma's house to Sofia's front door!

Gift and Box are a package, dropped off with love from Grandma at the local post office. But being a package together on a long postal voyage is not always easy. There are ships to board, oceans to cross and bumpy truck rides! Can Gift and Box arrive in one piece?

Come along for the ride on this delightful journey of friendship that showcases the wonder of receiving a gift by mail, and the love both a grandma and child feel as they’re connected by a simple package from far away.

Ellen Mayer is an award-winning author who writes picture books for babies and young children and the grown-ups who read to them. She has written ten books for children, seven of them for her Small Talk Books® series with Star Bright Books.

For many years Ellen was an education researcher at the Harvard Graduate School of Education, studying how families are engaged in their children’s learning. She also worked as an early literacy home visitor with young children and their parents in a local affiliate of the ParentChild+ program. Now Ellen volunteers as a visiting children’s book author with public schools and city-run playgroups in her local Cambridge and Somerville, MA communities. Long ago she earned an M.Phil. in Sociology from Columbia University.

When Ellen isn’t writing picture books, you can find her reading them with her young grandchildren. Ellen often collaborates with her musician husband in “Books + Banjo” reading and sing-along programs for young children.

Brizida Magro is a Boulder, Colorado-based illustrator.

She is passionate about rock climbing, wandering the world and bringing stories to life. She loves to experiment with paper collage, gouache, china marker and digital. She enjoys simplicity, whimsy, wee characters, and collecting vintage papers.

Raised by her grandmother and sister, she spent her childhood in a small Portuguese fishing town. Growing up, they would often make things by hand as a family.

Her childhood has greatly influenced her current work, which blends together the innocence of vintage children’s art, the naiveté of folk art, and frolicking adventures through the great outdoors.
