November is National Novel Writing Month! To celebrate, The Wandering Jellyfish is hosting write-ins all month long! What is a write-in, you ask? A write-in is a way for writers to gather and support each other while working on their novels. As writers ourselves, we know how hard and lonely it can be to take on something as monumental as writing a book (not to mention writing a novel in a month!). We find this type of community support invaluable to the process. So, we wanted to show our community the love and support they’ve always shown us by providing a place for writers to gather.

The workshop space will be the official “quiet space” where writers or groups can have a more secluded and focused writing experience. The bookshop will be the official “community space” where writers may work on their projects while also sharing ideas or talking about writing with other attendees.

Our resident author for this write-in is Megan Freeman! She will be available to discuss projects, ask questions, or talk about writing in general with attendees in the bookshop space.

Megan E. Freeman attended an elementary school where poets visited her classroom every week to teach poetry and she has been a writer ever since. She writes middle-grade and young adult fiction, and her debut middle-grade novel-in-verse Alone is available from Simon & Schuster/Aladdin. Megan is also a Pushcart Prize-nominated poet, and her poetry collection, Lessons on Sleeping Alone, was published by Liquid Light Press. An award-winning teacher with decades of classroom experience, Megan is nationally recognized for her work leading workshops and speaking to audiences across the country. Megan used to live in northeast Los Angeles, central Ohio, northern Norway, and on Caribbean cruise ships. Now she lives in northern Colorado.
