1. What got you into writing and what genres inspired you in your early writing career?

When my kids were little, I was reintroduced to the wonderful world of children's picture books. I was so enamored of what I was reading to them, I decided to start writing my own!

2. What was the greatest challenge you dealt with while writing your book and what advice would you give to young writers?

The greatest challenge in writing OVER, BEAR! UNDER, WHERE? was finding the heart of the story. I wanted it to be more than just funny wordplay. My advice to young writers is to trust yourself. If you have a story you feel needs to be told, it does! And YOU are the one to write that story.

3. What purpose do you find in your writing? In other words, why do you write?

I write because I can't NOT write. Writing is how I make sense of the world and of myself. Writing is also my way of reaching out to others in the hope of forging connections.

4. What is the question you wish people would ask during interviews?

What is a book you WANT to write, but haven't found the right approach for yet?

Bonus Lightning round

Would you rather write in a secluded lighthouse or in a cabin in the woods?

For sure a cabin in the woods. I am claustrophobic and would probably get very anxious in a lighthouse surrounded by nothing but water.

Book or movie you could read or watch repeatedly?

The Sound of Music

What’s your favorite One-True-Pairing (favorite fictional romantic relationship)?

Aragorn and Arwen
