Introducing: Wandering Jellyfish Write-Ins

October 26, 2021

November is National Novel Writing Month! To celebrate, we are hosting write-ins all month long! What is a write-in, you ask? A write-in is a way for writers to gather and support each other while working on their novels. As writers ourselves, we know how hard and lonely it can be to take on something as monumental as writing a book (not to mention writing a novel in a month!). We find this type of community support invaluable to the process. So, we wanted to show our community the love and support they’ve always shown us by providing a place for writers to gather

We will be kicking off the month with our first in-person write-in on Monday, November 1st. Please note that because this event is in-person, it is not officially associated with nor organized by the nonprofit behind NaNoWriMo. That said, to keep our community safe, we will be limiting the number of attendees for each write-in to eight writing spots in the bookshop and six in the workshop space for a total of 14 available spots, which writers can book online via our Eventbrite page. We will also require masks to be worn at all times, except, of course, while you are sipping from your chosen beverage (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, water), which we will provide. Because we will be providing drinks, we will also be promoting social distancing, but if you come with a writing buddy you would like to sit with, we will provide a space for you to sit together.

The bookshop will be the official “community space” where writers may work on their projects while also sharing ideas or talking about writing with other attendees. The workshop space will be the official “quiet space” where writers or groups can have a more secluded and focused writing experience. We’re also excited to announce that each write-in will have a resident author in the community space working on their project and with whom attendees may discuss their projects, ask questions, or talk about writing in general.
